A fine Japanese shibayama and gold lacquer kodansu, Meiji period, 1868-1912, the rectangular table cabinet with a gilt metal swing handle, the main vessel inset with five shibayama panels of flowering blossom and exotic birds amongst branches of blossom and foliage, gold lacquer borders with circular mon devices containing birds, landscapes and foliage, single door opening to three graduated drawers and fully lacquered interior, on shaped bracket feet, appears unsigned, height 17cm, width 10.5cm, depth 16cm
